Whatever it takes!

So this is what it’s like to be common. Last week I was researching the possibility that Cholera is a disease transmitted through the water.  Today, I’m working in the mines next to chimney sweeps and brush makers.  War has a way of upending civilization.  This is hard work, but I don’t mind.  I’m proud to do my part to support the war effort by mining for the raw materials our nation needs. We are a strong people. We’ll do whatever it takes!

Setting (how we’ll use our imaginations):

We’ll be in or near England in the 1850’s during the well-documented, historical Steampunk era.  The land is war-ravaged and stripped of resources.  This entire event will occur below ground. Not because people can’t live above ground, its just that we are in a mine.

Our entire house is subterranean. We are in a mine being operated to get resources for the war effort.

The loft level is the subterranean residence of the mine owners for when they visit the mine.  They don’t live here always, but on the 15th, the four very rich owners are visiting the mine.

The Miners Camp is the main level of the house.  There the miners will cook their meal and wash their clothes. Half the time miners will be on this level doing activities.

The basement is the tunnels of the mine.  There the miners will dig, sort, and excavate for precious stones.  They occasionally use Nerf weapons to fend off monsters. Half the time miners will be on this level doing activities.

Most of the players will be miners.  (I have already had separate conversations with everyone who is not a miner.)  Throughout the evening, the miners will be doing the chores of mining, and living in a camp. Your backstory can be anything you want and will drive how you behave, but I do not need to know it in advance.  And, if you just want to show up with a specific attitude, but no backstory, that’s okay too. In addition to chores, there will be entertainment, and conflict, and lies, and personal objectives and trying to figure out this war-thing. In the end there will be a giant and prolonged Nerf battle — like in western movies where it goes on and on.

Miners wear drab black, brown, grey clothes (see picture). Of course leather and brass are encouraged.  You will only see colorful costumes on the mine owners — the aristocracy. Color differentiates the classes.

Please join us at Sweet Rayne and help us bring this to life on the 15th!

You may post questions here, but direct emails to me will get a more prompt reply.
