The Land As I See It

Ahhh, peace and plenty. This is why we love Falton. The beautiful countryside, friendly neighbors, plenty of land to raise our crops, plenty of work for an honest explorer. Surely this peace will last forever. You know the saying, “I am a warrior, so my son can be a farmer, so his son can be an artist.” Perhaps it is time to pound our swords into plowshares.

But before you light the forge and start hammering on your sword…

I don’t think there is anything to it, but in all fairness, I should report a tidbit of news. A few travelers have mentioned sightings of Barbarians – War Boys they call themselves, in some of the more distant lands. We’ll keep our eyes open, and I ask you to do the same. But, don’t lose any sleep over it. Falton is strong and well-fortified. A rag-tag handful of unorganized miscreants can’t do much to disturb our peace and plenty. But then again, even-better-fortified beats well-fortified. Maybe we could use a few upgrades…

  1. Objection the first: Falton is not a place of peace and plenty, it is a place of danger, mild mayhem, and the rise and fall of fortunes. Mayhap Falton is resting as lions do in the heat of the day, but so much the better, for as lions we shall rise again to hunt treasure and adventure once more!
    Objection the second: Art thou a fop-headed fool?? Of course we must prepare! The greatest of civilizations hath been brought down by the coarsest barbarians – and Falton shall not be listed among them! {Incidentally, these “War Boys” are not related to the band known as the “Bored Barbarians”, are they? For the Bored Barbarians have long been loyal to Falton, and a crucial part of the town’s defense.}
    Question the First: And what of the Empire of Roam? For this is the second time they have threatened to engulf us, and rewrite all that Falton is! Hath anyone heard news of them?

    • Our reports tell us that the Empire of Roam is currently concerned with expansion in other directions, which means that Falton should be safe from its influence for now.

      As for the War Boys, they are unlike anything Falton has ever seen. Vicious, tribal and insane, they owe their allegiance only to the one they call “The Immortan”. Our scouts have brought reports of such rampant madness and destruction that one of the Town Council elders actually fainted, nearly falling off of Falton Tower.

  2. That’s good information to know! I’ll be sure to keep my eyes open as I travel about the countryside.

    Forewarned is forearmed I’ve always heard. Let’s not have Falton caught unawares… be prepared, I say. We have been duly warned! New fortifications and strengthening of the old are in order! I, for one, don’t want to be caught with our defenses down. Who knows but maybe these so called ‘War Boys’ won’t come this way if by happenstance they should hear about our hard-won peace and prosperity. Enjoy the peace and plenty we are currently blessed with certainly, but let us be on our guard! These stymphalistic fopdoodles needn’t think our town will be easy pickings! We’ve fought too long and hard to let a couple of lubberworts wreak havoc on us!

    I call for the King of Falton to protect that which we have and see that our borders and walls are well defended and secured!
