Saturday was a day to remember.
Before the day, Quest Sean Mark successfully got a letter through, via Aranel’s carrier chickens, to his kin in Scotland asking for help against the Roamans.
On the day:
- Roam killed Woodren for treason.
- Sheriff Dirk Williams rallied New Falton, as Dimitri rallied Roam for war.
- The kilt-wearing Scots, led by The MacRagnell, came down from the hills and joined New Falton just as the battle lines formed.
- Dimitri and MacRagnell faced off for a showdown and MacRagnell won. The battle was New Falton’s!
- We marched back into Falton to reclaim it.
- The Scot shared with us their culinary culture in the form of haggis.
- They shared with us a new dance called Strip the Willow.
- We knighted the town’s protectors, the original members of The Watch (one received posthumously by his brother).
- We had tournaments.
- We had archery and knife throwing contests.
- We shopped at the new Jester’s Closet, as well as enjoyed our old favorite haunts, the Lonely Rode Tavern, and the Salty Broth Inn.
- At the end of the day we were entertained by the death-defying Celtic Sword Dance performed by the MacRagnell triplets.
- We parted ways with the Scots as they returned to the hills following the singing of “The Parting Glass”.
- Then there was “open mic” at the acoustic theatre going well into the night were we sang and laughed and danced away the evening. [And that, my friends, was one of the most special events to date in my life. You people are AWESOME! Both when you are on-stage, and when you are the audience!]
What do you say we do it all again August 5th from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with an outdoor movie to follow?
Stryder
Before we go, let me leave you a laugh with a limerick by Bastion Bedfellow, which I commissioned on Saturday for a shilling:
Ruler of Roam
There once was a ruler from Roam,
Whose head was covered with a dome.
That man was Dimitri,
Who’s mood, not quite peachy,
Caused his mouth to froth white with foam!
[Also check out the song Bastion wrote on the Tavern Tales and Stories page.]
What did I miss?
Many thanks to all the brave Scots! We couldnae done it without ye! We now have our freedom!!
*Alvina makes a sweeping curtsy in thanks*
Aye! And proudly so!
Much thanks to all the planning the Scots put into this day. Song, dance, battle, kilts — shall we say “obsessed”!?!
Bravo! Bravo!
