About that third thing

Check out the beautiful testimonial on our new page that will hold the collection of stories that describe why we Torch Lighters are the way we are. I’d love to post your story.   Please send it my way.   Stryder

Fun — Past and Future

Three things: Did you see the latest Tavern Tales posting by Col. David Barclay?  Outstanding write-up of the last event! Did you hear there is a Christmas Party at the Sweet Rayne Inn on Dec 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.?  Well, there is!  Dress in medieval, steampunk, Christmas or street clothes.  It will be an evening of treats and games and crafts and singing carols and recounting old memories and making new ones …

Dirigible – October 2018

My name is Col. David Barclay. This is my testimony of the events that transpired on board the dirigible “Good Ship Lollipop”, and soon thereafter.  I stood near the front of the line, preparing to board the Good Ship Lollipop just prior to departure on her maiden voyage following a major refit.  Ahead of me in line were but two people, the Cushion Ambassador Komik Bir-Adam, come to find new technologies for his country, and …

This is THE DAY!

Two things: There is nothing you can do to mess up the “script” of the game.  Be creative, push the limits, act on your ideas.  (All the while being willing to sacrifice a personal win for the fun of others.) 2. After the game, we’ll play “Objectives Bingo”, trying for 5 in a row.  The Objectives that will fill the Bingo cards are the following list, in no particular order, so you may want to …

The lay of the night

After the trial wraps up, we’ll play Objectives BINGO — 5 in a row wins a cool prize!  (More on that in tomorrow’s final posting.) This will be followed by Open Mic.  I am hopeful that my special invitation will result in a never-before-seen act.  Afterwards, we’ll go inside, gather in front of the fire, and tell how our characters accomplished their objectives. Then we’ll have snacks and watch the pictures from the evening. Finally, we’ll …

Two Things

One:   This trip is completely unrelated to the previous trip on the dirigible.  This is an alternate future.  Someone stepped on the butterfly.  (If that does not make sense to you, please read A Sound of Thunder ).  Anything you think you know about someone else from the last event is null and void.  Wipe your memory of whatever happened last time.  No character has experienced both of these alternate timelines.  Your only pre-knowledge of someone …

Food! Where?

Sandwiches and fruit will be served in the Cafe on the Good Ship Lollipop during our flight. Snacks will be served during the open mic session and when we return to the house. We had a delightful planning session last night and there were some very original ideas.  You’ll be hearing more about “Objectives Bingo” in the next day or two… Don’t let ANYTHING interfere with joining us Friday night, or you may well regret …

I Know Something You Don’t Know…

But I’ll tell you — a new page has been added to consolidate the elements of Steampunk LARP.  Please see unique features for the unique rules and features of next week’s game. Also, Stryder needs a waiter/waitress on the dirigible.  Please let me know today if you’d like to play this part for a while. Stryder

The Word on the Street is…

There are some really fun/complex/interesting characters coming to this next LARP!  Thank you for the character info I have received, and for the ones you’ll be sending by tomorrow, so we can weave you into the story.  Be sure to include your personal objectives. As for the evening — there are elements that not even the planning committee knows about!!!  Portions of this evening will be remembered for a looooong time…  🙂 As for the Loveland …

What Can You Tell Me About Yourself?

Interviewee:  “Mah Name is General Lincoln Continental Motors.  Ah hail from down south where honor is flown high up the flagpole.  I served in the English and the Indian Wars.  I would give mah life for mah country faster than you can shake a stick at a possum in yer tater patch.” Interviewer:  Nice to meet you General.  Thank you for serving!   Now let me ask you — What can you tell me about …
