My brothers and Sisters,
I write on the verge of the battle with the Roamans. Their anger with us increases every day. I am Bartholomew. I am the treasurer for the Watch and one of the original members. We need to be ready for the Roamans when they attack. We need to fix the mistake we made last time. This is why I write. I write this to all in Falton who are willing to take up the sword in battle against the Roamans. I write this to those who are willing to join the Watch. However, there are conditions. We need a well trained fighting force, not a bunch of uncommitted recruits. As such, these are the conditions laid out by the members of the Watch.
1: All who wish to join must be willing to submit to the authority of a leader unless told to do something contradicting that which the Watch stands for. You must be ready to take orders for the greater good of Falton and it’s King.
2: All members will be in a squad of five fighters. These squads will have the following positions -A commander -A healer -A flag bearer -A rogue -And a fighter. As the need arises however, it may seem fit to change those positions. Also if you show promise in training and in leadership, you may move up into higher positions.
3: The Watch will have the squads mentioned above in addition to a leader squad consisting of the commanders and officers. What will fill the time of the squads in the Watch? The duties to be carried out will change as needed, however, common duties will consist of: Training time -Squads will be drilled in how to fight as a group rather than an individual. Questing and treasure hunting -As we will need to supply the needs and expenses of keeping up the Watch, we will need funding. Part of the proceeds will go to the members as their income. Scouting -As many of you know, their are bands of robbers and thieves scattered throughout the land. This duty will consist of finding and arresting these bands if found guilty. And finally, in battle, the Watch will act as a guide to the formation of troops to better prepare them for the fight ahead.
4: As mentioned, all members will receive an income of money. This money can be used for support of your families, and to buy food and clothes for you, but, the money is not meant as an incentive to draw in members, instead it is meant as a reward for hard work. As to the amount given it has yet to be decided. But it will be a worthy sum for that which is done well.
5: Recruits upon entering will be asked if they mean to join for the greater good of Falton, it’s people, and it’s King,. If answered yes, they will be held responsible to their duty in protecting and upholding that promise.
6: And finally, the standards that the Watch uphold are as follows: We will protect he who cannot raise a hand to protect themselves. We will uphold that which is honorable and just. Upon finding a thief, murderer, or other such convict, we will give them a fair and just trial and will treat them accordingly. And lastly, if called upon to perform a special task for the King or for Falton that is against the good of the people or against the good of the King, we will refuse the task to the point of defense against any persuasion that may come.
These are the standards of the Watch and they are laid out in hopes that it may provide a force that will stand up for the right and true in Falton and defend it in an honorable way so as to provide for the common good. If any wish to join the Watch, we will have a contact in Falton at all times. You may talk to this contact and the request will be passed on to the leader, who is currently the Sheriff Dirk Williams, and he will decide if it is necessary to permit a new recruit.
My Falton and it’s people live long in prosperity,
Signed, Bartholomew Ryshien on behalf of the Watch
