Ladies and gentlemen, your attention please!
Beginning at the upcoming LARP, the Dimitri Rule will be in effect. You’re probably asking yourselves, “What is the Dimitri rule?” So, allow me to explain. Wearing actual armor to the LARP will provide you with extra HP. To receive this bonus, you must show your armor to a Story Master on the day of the LARP, and they will grant you a bonus based how effective the armor would be in real life. So, real armor will grant you bonus hit points. Keep in mind that unsafe armor (anything with spikes and the like) cannot be used for, well, safety reasons. Use common sense and good judgment when making/purchasing armor.
As a rule of thumb, one extra HP will be granted for every two pieces of armor (i.e. bracers, greaves, shoulder armor, etc). However, the Story Masters will assign an appropriate bonus on a case by case basis.
HP bonuses will be granted for actual, real, would-actually-help-if-a-steel-sword-hit-you armor. Metal, leather, chain mail, etc.
This rule has been added because real armor provides a major advantage in real life, but is also cumbersome. So, to offset the movement restriction caused by the armor, and to encourage more realistic and amazing costumes, we are going to reward such dedication.
So if the armor is made out of very realistic LARP-legal materials (ie, foam and cardboard) would it still count?
It could POSSIBLY count, but definitely not at the same level real armor would. This rule was mainly instituted to offset the encumbrance and reduced mobility of real armor in an effort to make it worth wearing. Since we love to see awesome costumes, there might be some bonus HP granted for “fake” armor. However, that will be on a case by case basis.
Why is it called the Dimitri rule? Look for the guy in chain mail and ask him his name…
